term 3 week 7-homework
hey room 10,
excellent homework recently using the blog and windowslive.
This week the activity has reading, design and lots of thinking about the inquiry key understandings.
You have been given a reading about the "wellywood" sign that was being planned for the hills near the airport. Think about the work we have being doing around cultures. Now complete the thinkers key. As it says in the reading the sign can be a word/s, image or other design. You could do this in pen, paint, on a computer etc etc etc.You will present your work for oral language next week. You will need a replica of the sign you plan and then discuss the links to wellington culture and answer questions. This is a thinking and creating activity, there are no wrong answers!
We will discuss any problems in class this week. Don't forget to study for your spelling!

term 3 week 5
For the second activity watch the video of children collecting paint from the beach. These students live in Arnhem Land in the very north of Australia. They are descendants of the Yolngu people and have one of the world’s most ancient cultures (at least 50,000 years old). They have only had regular contact with Europeans from around 1935.
Create a list of what you think would be important to the Yolngu people in their culture. Look on line and investigate other aspects of Australian Aboriginal culture.
Use your windowslive account to make a slideshow about Australian Aboriginal culture. 5-10 slides each focusing on an aspect of this culture. Be ready to share this with the class.
Don't forget to study for to spelling quiz!
The log in to digistore is the same.

term 3 week 2 homework.
hey room 10,
as we discussed in class today, the focus for homework this week is the spellathon.
1) Write your words out each night.
2) Tell an adult what each word means and put the word into a sentence as part of the conversation. ( as we did with a buddy at school).
3) Ask an adult to give you a practice test on the words. Wednesday night would be good for this.
4) Creative story using the words. I want you to write the story using WORD in your windowslive account. We looked at this in class today. You do it just like we did when making the slide-show last term. Save to the skydrive.
